This neck piece is made of a African Moon & Sun Baule surrounded by vintage Ethiopian trade beads, set on a sterling  silver neck wire. The focal pendant measures 4.5″ in length.

The Baule have many tribal masks, including the moon or moon mask, their main function is the protection of the person wearing it, especially against witchcraft. A also be used for divination or an altar object for which offerings can be made. The Baule associate the rays of the sun (rim) with the face of the moon.
